Cyprinus carpio

Common carp or European (Cyprinus carpio) is a freshwater fish, relative of the goldfish, with which you can even have hybrid offspring. It has been introduced in all continents except Antarctica.

There xanthochromic varieties developed in China as ornamentals, Call , yu li, and then broadcast in Japan as koi ( koi?), which have a remarkable color. The koi are originally from China but were known to the Western world through Japan.

Habitat and distribution

Description:

C. coiaceus carpio (leather carp): Little or no scale at the back and thin skin.

Reproduction:

The tents usually move in small groups around 5 individuals. The breeding season begins in spring and early summer ends. They prefer shallow water with dense vegetation cover. Females lay eggs in the weeds and the male fertilizes externally. The eggs are attached to the substrate until they hatch. It is estimated that a female can lay up to one million eggs, although the average for an adult female is 300.000 eggs.
